Badly designed.
The overvoltage protection works in the sense of an overvoltage protection. However, it is poorly constructed as the outer 6 outputs don't have enough space for the 6 outputs in the middle. Larger, bulkier power cords could have been placed outside, but after testing various power cords from smart home devices to Samsung's proprietary monitor connectors. I've found that most of them overlap the actual sockets in the middle, making them inaccessible and useless. Also this item is just badly designed in terms of layout and dimensions, it will come back and get a different brand because of that.
