Review on πŸ‘‘ Bloch Women's Grecian Sandal Medium: Stylish Women's Shoes and Athletic Gear by Charles Mcneil

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My new favorite dancing shoes :)

I bought these pink size 8 Bloch training sandals. I also bought the black Sansha training sandals, a size 10 (they run small and were uncomfortably long and narrow, but that's another review). After two years of swing dancing in Capezio 1.5" character shoes I wanted a dance shoe with a low heel but still nice, especially since I'm just learning Lindy. All three models are shown in the photo for reference (Capezio also has a size 8). I also have a pair of jazz block lace up shoes (size 8) which i ripped to pieces. are you ready? These shoes are SO AMAZING. They fit exactly like my Bloch jazz shoes and took exactly zero minutes to break in. I have a wide foot with a narrow heel so the fact that these shoes fit the ball of the foot and don't rub anywhere is a gift from heaven above. The heel is perfect for Lindy, Swing and Contra (I've worn it to dance everything so far) and they are not so tight or short that my toes weep at the end of the night. The fact that they are sandals also means your feet can BREATHE.I don't know why they don't make more full leather training sandals llen because they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever danced in. These babes are made from SUPER soft leather with a fabric lined toe (which I really like as it makes them more forgiving than sanshis with a stiffer leather lining). The heel is lined in suede, as is the insole, except for a pink leather insert under the heel. The elastic on the instep is not too tight for my very high arch and instep and makes it very easy to put on and take off. Outsole and heel are made of suede and provide sufficient traction even on not completely clean wooden floors. Also, the color is exactly what you would expect from a pink ballet. No odd nude, just a pretty, classic ballet pink. A note on sizing: I usually wear size 8 street shoes, sometimes 8.5. I'm really 39 using European sizing. My Capezios (8M) were a little tight on me in both length and width, but stretched over time to be perfect. My Jazz Bloch shoes (8M) are a bit too big for me and unless I want absolutely ZERO footroom I would probably buy these training sandals in 7.5M. Because it is a soft sole (they have no support/rigidity between the ball of your foot and the heel) the sole can flex/bulge up under the arch of the foot and accommodate any additional shoe length. However, if you want to wear these sandals WITHOUT the nylon and DO NOT want them to appear painted on your skin, choose [the smaller] of your normal street shoe size. As Fred Astaire sang, "Put on your dancing shoes, stop wasting time; Put on your dancing shoes and watch your spirits rise!”

Pros
  • Combination rubber/leather straps to relieve pressure on ball of foot
Cons
  • Sad packaging
