Review on 🍷 Repour Wine Saver (4-Pack) - Wine Preserver and Stopper - Eliminates Oxygen, Maintaining Freshness of Wine by Amy Collins

There was an unpleasant smell and taste. Maybe defective?

Received 4 packs and was dying to try them. The first two bottles I tried seemed to give off an odd chalky/musty/loamy smell (unlike anything I've ever smelled before, so I can't exactly describe it). It wasn't terrible, but definitely not good. By the way, I used them for their intended purpose - I poured a glass, put a cork in immediately, only one cork per bottle. The smell always seemed to be strongest after the second day. Everything was fine after one day of use, but everything went bad on the second day. Just to make sure it didn't seem like that to me, I did a little experiment. I bought another bottle of wine and divided it into two bottles. I used a repour cork on one and not on the other. Then he poured a glass for each of the next 3 days and compared them. The results were disturbing: the bottle with repour clearly imparted an off-flavor that was not present in the bottle without repour. It was that chalky/musty smell I mentioned earlier. Too bad. Now, after all the positive reviews, I'm willing to accept that I just received a defective product. But to be honest, since they were not only ineffective for me, but actively spoiled my wine, I won't be buying them again. Really don't care about the risk. I will just keep my wine in the fridge after opening and drinking it for 3-4 days. A good bottle of Sagrantino ruined!
