Review on Dell AS501 Speaker Ultrasharp Monitors by Justin Munajj

At first I wanted the best selling Pebbles, but after reading these reviews I saw someone recommending them and pulled the trigger because they were available in stock from Revain and cost less than Pebbles. I've had the Bose Companion 2 Series III multimedia speakers for a few years and I wasn't expecting much but I'm very happy with the sound quality and they fit my needs perfectly as I wanted the speakers to fit under the monitor. I've only encountered one problem with them, which I quickly identified as a computer problem and not a speaker problem. A few other reviewers have mentioned issues with static or hissing, and I too have encountered this when the speakers are at maximum volume and it was unnoticeable when the speaker volume was turned down a bit. I found that this was caused by interference from my computer's USB port and was not a speaker issue. I managed to solve this problem by connecting the speakers to an external USB power supply. I had an extra power supply lying around from an old Android phone and when I connected these speakers to this power supply the problem went away and I was able to crank these speakers to 100% with no issues. I tested these speakers on a Dell Inspiron desktop and a Macbook Pro and only the Dell had USB port interference. So if you have this problem, try an external power supply!
