Used shaving oil and castor oil as skin protectant and hair softener before lathering. It didn't really cut the mustard either. First, it's a gel that's basically rubbed into your skin. It left no protection or extra slip when shaving. The bottle even says it can be used as a shaving gel. Not! I shave better with a dry shave with a disposable razor! My shaved skin also tends to feel dry after shaving, so I need to use more lotion as well. So I'll probably keep using it until it's gone, but then most likely just buy a bottle of pure castor oil.
