I would say they are true to size. I usually wear a size 8, but for sneakers I take a size 8.5. So I thought I would do the same but 8.5 (40) was too big. However, when I applied the Velcro straps, my legs stayed in place and I was able to ride the Peloton bike. But while driving I felt a slight movement of the legs. Not a big deal but I should have just stayed with my normal size. But they are comfortable to ride and putting on the spikes was easy. However, you will need your own hex tool. I like that everything is velcro and I don't have to worry about other mechanisms.
