Thanks to everyone who left feedback - it helped me choose the best scale for my grocery store. What I REALLY want is a scale that weighs up to 30 or 60 pounds AND up to a gram. There are such scales and I bought some, but they didn't work! The product turned out to be controversial and terrible. This is the 8th or 10th scale my business is on and finally we have one to keep. I really have to give it 5 stars but I want to share why I docked it despite all its merits. GOOD: - It's accurate and fast. A product made using this scale turned out to be perfect. I also like that the weight readings don't fluctuate randomly without adding or subtracting anything on the scale. It seems "crucial" and stands still. This helps us reduce production time. There's a dual-read secondary display on the back, so if my colleague is filling pockets on one side, I can casually glance at and review her work while I'm doing something else. That's a super bonus. Our employee works faster and more precisely than an automatic bag filler, but still. That's cool. - It has both a plug-in system and a battery system. THE BAD: - I WANT it to weigh a lot more and still be accurate. The accuracy part was a compromise though - we just need to weigh many consecutive amounts of ingredients to get enough to fill our gear. We chose the 6lb limit because we needed 1g accuracy. We have 0.01g scales for smaller ingredients that need extra careful weighing. However, for a 30 liter batch of product we still need to be accurate to within 1g or the product will not come out properly. I would pay twice as much or more for a 60 lb weight scale with a 1g accuracy if it actually worked. Maybe they don't exist and maybe that's why these scales have such good reviews. They require weird, inconvenient batteries. I think they are size C or D and need 6 or 8 of them. We use rechargeable eneloop batteries (which we charge with solar energy). For larger batteries, eneloop places the AA in the "shell" of the larger battery. To use it with battery, we need to order extra battery cases. It seems somewhat inefficient that way. For our purposes it would be better to just use AAs and change them more frequently. I would also pay more for it if it comes with its own much smaller battery. The power cord plug is in an odd place INSIDE the battery compartment. If you're more likely to use batteries but want to plug them in from time to time, it's cumbersome as you have to take the batteries out to plug them in. It's going to be a messy process. In any case, we are very satisfied. with it and will continue to use it. At the moment this is the only scale known to us that is fundamentally suitable for our business. The above criticism will be helpful for future iterations of the design.
