Unfortunately, manufacturers insist on using plastic clasps instead of metal clasps. I find that metal zippers are more effective in heavy garments like parkas, winter coats, jackets, etc. Thank goodness this company still makes those amazingly strong zippers. I have swapped zippers on three very expensive jackets and saved over $1600 (the cost of swapping my jackets). Most dry cleaners will charge $50 to replace a zipper, which is still cheaper than buying a new jacket. Why not replace the zip, especially when the jacket is fairly new like mine was? Plastic zippers in all three jackets broke after two winters!
