I actually have a road bike with a larger frame and a bike stand. It worked, but I had two big problems. 1) I have big feet and with the side pockets open my heels hit the pockets when I stepped on them. 2) My bike rack (on my car) didn't close properly, the Explorer rack was in the way. I looked into this very carefully and decided to buy the E-Type instead of the V-Type simply for the extra height so I have enough free space when I have the MTX bag on the mount. Remember I have a road bike. and won't carry much weight in your bag. Also, I'm a tall guy (6ft 4in) and feel like I don't have to worry about the bike feeling "overly heavy". With the MTX bag mounted in the mount, the bag sits right behind my seat giving me plenty of room to pedal and no problem closing my bike rack properly. I highly recommend it. Just note that the recommendations are: Type A - small bike frame, Type E - medium sized bike frame, Type V - larger bike frame. I say this because not everyone will try to solve the same problems as me.
