Review on πŸ”ͺ High-Quality Norton Grinding Wheel: Premium Bench & Pedestal Aluminum Oxide Wheel, Very Fine Grit - 6 Inch, Pack of 1 by Carta Gutierrez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It installs and works well, it takes a little patience.

Item arrived double bagged in airbags and was in perfect condition. Since there are many reviews of this wheel that indicate problems with the hubs and the correct operation of the wheel, I will describe what I did to install and adjust my wheel. I cleaned the shaft and cups after removing the old wheel. accumulated slag and the like. I pulled the hub out and pressed it against the inner shell and then placed it on the wheel. I held the outer shell firmly to the wheel and tightened the nut. By spinning the wheel I could tell it was swaying side to side and was about 3/32 true so I removed it and finished again by moving the bushings relative to each other. I did this 4 times before making sure the wheel was working as accurately as possible, tightening the nut and turning on the grinder. There was some vibration as the mill picked up speed, but the vibration disappeared and it was seen that the deviation was about 1/16th. I took the steering wheel off and the vibration was gone. The wheel turns and works perfectly. Cuts fast and cool. For a $20 wheel, you just can't expect a machined hub to come with it. Also, the hub does not determine how the wheel turns. The surfaces of the cup and how it fits the circle will determine how it works, especially with a cheap coffee grinder. If you think it's important, order the right size bushing from McMaster or buy the steel bushings offered here at Revain. A little patience is cheaper.
