If you're reading this, you probably don't need an explanation for the fame of Pocari Sweat. Otsuka's flagship sports drink has a taste that surpasses any western rehydration drink, and it actually works like a sports drink is supposed to. After spending a month in Japan walking around day after day and baking in the scorching Tokyo heat, the only drink that could bring me even a modicum of relief was Pocari Sweat. Back in America, I felt lost without the soothing, rehydrating convenience of the now-familiar blue bottle. I knew I should have my own. I bought this bad boy along with a 10 liter spare pack in hopes of satisfying my Pocari desires. The powdered material is just amazing; Its taste is 100% comparable to what you can buy at FamilyMarts across Japan. However, the lack of a star is due to the quality of the bottle. While this bottle is by no means poor quality, it definitely isn't worth $18. It competes with the cheaper bottle given out at charity events, or maybe the bottle you've had in your cupboard since you played soccer as a kid. Also, my bottle doesn't have the same print as the picture; Notice my photo how small the logo is. Also, the lid doesn't stay all the way up when I go out for a drink. It sinks back down, so every time I pick it up to drink I tug at it with my teeth. While none of these ailments are serious, they certainly cannot be ignored. However, that shouldn't stop you from buying one! Enjoy Pocari Sweat. It tastes better and is better for you than any other sports drink!
