I have several Himalayan salt lamps at home and love their soft, warm glow. Some of my original lamps are several years old and their fixings will soon fail. I chose this product because it is UL certified. The part is made of plastic, but differs from the original in that the bulb does not rest directly on the metal that the bulb is screwed into. I had to remove the piece of metal from the bottom of the lamp and screw the base back into the lamp, but this is a vastly improved design over the original. Some of my original lamps had metal pins that required a concerted effort to remove the light source from the lamp. This block has 3 pins that secure the flashlight but requires no breaking fingers or tools to insert or remove from the base. I ordered 3 units and am so happy with my purchase that I will be ordering more.
