How the clamp works: There is nothing under the jack to support the clamped parts. This causes parts to fall out before they can be clamped. To hold the wood and turn the jackscrew, I had to screw pieces of wood onto the worktable to support them while I tightened the clamp. There were no problems when using 2x4 boards or other large sizes. I have other clips of the same size and bought this one for picture frames and small trims. Overall this is a good item for my shop. If a less knowledgeable worker bought it, the disappointment might outweigh the benefit of this cotton.
