I ordered a pair of these to replace the ones in my 2001 Audi TT. I had a fuel gauge that read 1/4 tank when the car was off and therefore gave high readings and left me stuck when I ran out of gas. The replacement was simple: remove the cluster from the car, disassemble it. Cluster, take out the old stepper motors and put them in. No soldering. You need to remove the needles from the gauges. To do this, use a couple of spoons. You can find several videos online showing how to do this. The hardest part for me was removing the white plastic backing. To remove it there are four round latches located on either side of the speedo/rpm steppers that you need to slide out of the way while lifting the white plastic. When everything is assembled, you need to calibrate the needles. The speedometer and tachometer needles work fine. Click on the needle, twist it counterclockwise a few times and align it to 0. This will carve them out. Fuel/coolant needles are more difficult. I used my car scanner (Autel Maxidas) to run the dashboard through a test loop. This guides the needles through their entire range and then stops halfway and holds them there. Then just push the needles pointing to the half mark. If you don't have a pre-scanner, you can get there manually. Fill up the car with petrol beforehand. It must be completely filled. Place the needles straight on the left side of the tuft. Press them down slightly for easy removal. Plug in the cluster and then turn on the ignition. Adjust the fuel arrow to point to the solid line on the dash. Install the coolant needle so that it points approximately 1/8 inch to the left of the bottom mark. Set the needles to this position, then turn the ignition on and off and check that they are in the correct position. a bit of trial and error. The whole process, including deleting the cluster, took about 45 minutes. The scanner really helps.
