I have multiple mics. I have worked with many others. I have worked as a professional engineer and currently lead the worship team and the theater's technical department. This is my standard for a vocal mic. It has a clean, crisp tone, great response and excellent noise cancellation, and is forgiving yet transparent. Any day I would choose it over Shure 58. If you want to upgrade, go for Sennheiser 845 or even 865, but don't be fooled by the marketing of old Shure 58s. I use Shure products (e.g. sm 81) for tools and really commend them for this feature, but for vocals, I've never considered the Sennheiser 835 to be the best choice in the sub-$100 category.
