Review on 🌢️ COLE & MASON Ardingly Wood Pepper Grinder - Gourmet Precision Mechanism and Premium Peppercorns, Dark Brown Wooden Mill by Chris Spoja

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great old fashioned grinder with modern convenience

I used to like the Cole & Mason Derwent Pepper Mill but I'm not a modern person and I'm more of a traditional Peugeot mill look , but with the ease you get with Cole & Mason grinders. The problem I had with my Peugeot coffee grinder was that the tip that controls the grind at the top kept moving while I was grinding and it went from fine grinds to large chunks. The Ardingly has a great vintage look that even Julia Child would have liked, but is upgraded with the removal of the "handle"-like part at the top instead of the knob. The grind setting is changed by rotating the base of the grinder while compressing to multiple clearly marked notches for each setting. I had to return the first one because the handle came off the windmill but so far my replacement has been amazing. This is a minor design flaw and hopefully Cole and Mason can fix it. It's still a great grinder and Cole and Mason helped me a lot with returns (you return it to where you bought it).

Pros
  • Convenient choice of 6 preset grind levels by rotating the base
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
