I have been looking for carbon filters for my new LG Craft ice fridge for a long time. Yes, I'm a baller! I used to sell Mulit-Pure pure water refills so I know what I'm talking about. What you want from an ice maker/fridge water dispenser is a hard carbon polishing filter, ideally made from coconut charcoal. These so-called coconut filters are the final stage of reverse osmosis systems and filter down to 5 microns for incredible flavor. 99% of all refrigerator filters are granular carbon, which is virtually useless and allows unpleasant tastes and odors to pass through. The only downside to full carbon filters is that they don't last as long without a pre-filter stage. However, if you're using city water, they work great on their own. It is very easy to control when the water flow drops to a minimum. Change the filter! I live in Hawaii and these filters bring the taste and quality of the water back to the source of the volcanic aquifer. Very impressive and an absolute bargain!
