Perfect for flagpole lighting

I didn't want a moody solar system lighting the flagpole, and since the flagpole is also a shortwave antenna, I didn't want a noisy AC line nearby. So 12V DC LEDs seemed like the only sensible solution. These lights are great but the questions and comments didn't help me much. Here are my comments.1. Brightness. These lights are insanely bright.2. Strength. The total power of the two lamps is 27 watts. I measured 13.4 watts each. This is important in my application as I am running about 100 feet of 14/2 cable for direct burial. The resistance is about 2 ohms per 1000 feet. However, since this is a 12V system, the current is an important part of the calculation. These lamps require about 3 amps. The total voltage drop across the cable is (3 x 0.1 x 2) volts, which equates to a loss of about 0.6 volts. Anything but that and I want to either increase the voltage or use a bigger wire or use a smaller light.4. Bracket. Making the bracket was pretty easy. I used a weatherproof switch box to house the wiring and a 12v photocell. A 12" section of a 1 1/2" perforated corner and a U-bolt tied everything together. A little spray paint and you're done.5. tide against spot. I ordered the filling version of the lamp. Shortly after ordering, I realized I really needed the spot version and I could get it in a square pack for about $2 more. When I got the light I quickly plugged it into a 12V adapter, placed it on the table and lit it up to the ceiling. To my surprise, it's actually a headlight. The beam stretched from 4 inches to about 24 inches in six feet from my desk to the ceiling. Since the attachment point is 18 feet below the top of the flag, I can expect about 6 feet of coverage for my 3 x 5 flag, beyond the 6 foot drawing. The light on the flag is beautiful.
