The right product for me, the price suited me.

All in all, a great camera for the hobbyist, student, and even pro, in situations where you want to take a camera, but don't have the desire/ability to carry a DSLR. For example, on vacation. I have not yet tested a camera with fast lenses, I have not understood all its capabilities. But even with a whale, it seems to me no worse, and even better than the 550D that I had before it. We purposefully decided to change the DSLR to a more compact camera, so that it would be more convenient to take it everywhere with you and take a lot of pictures. The first child will soon appear in the family, the wife is eager to shoot him for the home archive))) She really liked the different modes, of which there are many in this cell, she is experimenting with them. And I'm a conservative supporter of the M regime)). Both are happy :) Z. Y. the mobile application does not allow uploading sample photos. I may add later.

Pros
  • Compactness - the size is much smaller than a DSLR, but not small, like a soap dish. Light weight. It is convenient to hold and operate the camera. In the presence of all the chips from the DSLR - viewfinder, shoe, microphone input. Often on mirrorless cameras there is none of this. I prefer to have everything - for versatility. Filling - almost equal to 80D, but even a little better. And the 80D carcass costs more than the M50 whale. Hence the next plus - Price. Excellent quality for both photos and videos. FHD 60fps is more than enough. 4k is not widespread yet. Autofocus works great. When using the viewfinder, you can slide your finger across the touch screen to autofocus - a handy feature. The latest raw format. Fast burst shooting. Surprisingly decent sound quality from the built-in microphones. High-quality and convenient screen and viewfinder. Good photos in auto mode and special modes. Convenient wireless features. You can put it on a tripod, and activate the shutter release from your phone to avoid movement. Helped out when shooting at very long exposures at night. And, of course, you can send photos to your smartphone or computer. Kit glass 15-55 is not the worst, you can use it.
Cons
  • I still don't understand how NFC works. I have it on my phone, it's on, but it doesn't react to approaching the camera. As a result, it was faster to connect manually)) There is no body version, or at least variations of kits with fast lenses. I heard that the M5 had a kit with 22 / 2.0 in addition to the main one. There are very few good glasses on the M mount. I don’t understand why it’s impossible to release at least an analogue of the same 50 / 1.8 ?! Fortunately, you can buy an adapter for EF and use a giant park of optics. The battery cannot be charged via USB. I don't understand how difficult it was to do this? Apparently they want us to buy batteries from them, and not use power banks. Cropped footage in 4k. Since there is such an opportunity in the camera, why is it cut down? Dual-pixel does not work in this mode, and the frame rate is low. But you can shoot non-dynamic scenes if you wish. It is not critical for me, because I will shoot only in FHD.
