So if the remote control doesn't work, then you get stuck with the combination of light and fan that was last installed. Fortunately, the fan is set to a moderate speed. So I can turn the light and fan on and off at the same time, but not one without the other. It worked for a day, so I know there's nothing wrong with the install. Ridiculous. Now I read the reviews and I see that I'm not the first idiot to have this problem. This is the first ceiling fan I've seen where you assemble the fan blades from the bottom up before connecting the wires and hanging. In an old house with some character on the ceiling it wasn't easy to align all 4 screws - not good for my old house. Emerson bad for letting me fight blades along the way. do yourself a favor Buy something else.
