Review on Experience Smooth Riding With MZYRH Mountain Bike Pedals: Lightweight, Non-Slip, And Durable by Alejandro Lane

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Under 4 inches wide. disappointed

Pedals are advertised as being 4.45" wide platform. The ones I received were slightly less than 4" wide. See photo. So, that was disappointing. Also, the pedals spin too freely right out of the box. This does not inspire confidence in longevity. Pedals should take a while of break in before they spin so easily. Compared to some Raceface Chesters I have here, these feel too lightweight in the axle area, and I would imagine they would fail prematurely. These pedals seem to be copies of the Bontrager Line Elite Pedals. You get what you pay for with these, I suppose. Go look at where the pins are on Raceface Chesters, and then look at where they are on these. The rear pin nearest to the crank on the Chesters are further out from the crank, and make contact with your shoe. The same pin on these never touches my shoe. Kind of a waste, IMO. I got these because I have size 13 feet, and I thought the concave platform would be good, but these are probably not right for me. Your mileage may vary. On a positive note, these do come in a nice box with two washers if you need them, and some extra pins. The Chesters come with nothing extra.

Pros
  • Looks good, no problem so far
Cons
  • The pedals may not be sturdy enough for riders with a higher weight capacity
