Review on πŸ“€ Progressive Scan DVD Player Toshiba SD-4900 with Enhanced SEO by Mike Fedd

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great specs - poor performance

Pros - great video Cons - sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work for years. Excellent and reliable products. I bought this DVD player after a long search. It seemed very important. I needed a digital decoder in my DVD player because unfortunately my receiver only supports digital formats. My old Toshiba 2-disc digital DVD player had no problem with this shortcoming. However, this player proved to be very disappointing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The video is always great, but the audio either works great or doesn't work at all. It's not a connection problem. One DVD works, the other doesn't. The same DVD works for titles but otherwise does not play audio. The same DVD, on the other hand, works one time but not another time. I'm pretty sure it's just a defective unit, but I've seen at least two other Best Buy units openly put up for sale. Perhaps I'm being too conspiratorial, but I see no reason to believe that these departments are any different from equally spirited ones. I will go back and buy a more expensive device that will hopefully work.
