My finches live in Prevue SPF0610 flight cages (measuring 30" x 18" x 18"). The rod that comes with the kit is about half an inch in diameter. sit and eventually jump out (which scares the finches half to death and I understand can be really dangerous). This doesn't come without a bit of damage and loss of the roundness that allows them to cling to the seat. Also, they deform quickly (especially when banged on the ground and pooped on) so they can't really be reused . Plus, the same package is less than $2 at Walmart.
