Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Immerse in 360ยฐ with the Ricoh Theta M15 Spherical Panorama Camera (Blue) by Hals Martin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great spherical camera!

Pros: Extremely fast photosphere captures and real spherical video. You can move both spherical photos and videos (even during playback) up, down, left and right and zoom in/out. Cons: not high resolution. Also, uploading to the Ricoh website is currently the only way to get your spherical video online for sharing, and you can only upload 10 seconds of video (but you can record up to 3 minutes of video per recording session). I bought it hoping that this model will be HD since it records video now, but I'm a bit disappointed with the picture quality. It's a decent resolution, but it degrades a lot in low light. However, I'm trying to control my expectations and realize that this is a unique product and will improve with subsequent models. What I already like is the ease of use and the speed of recording. . Taking a photo or video is as easy as pressing a button or touching the screen of my smartphone. After a few seconds, the image will transfer to my device for viewing. My wife loves that she is no longer shy about being out in public with me. She often left me alone and circled around while I took the 20-30 photos needed for the photosphere on my android. This weekend I was at Best Buy and bought a monopod. I didn't want to buy it online because I wanted to make sure the base would screw into a mini tripod. This is the monopod I bought: http://www.amazon.com/DigiPower-TP-QPXT-Quikpod-Extreme-accessories/dp/B00BYFUBJK and I paired it with a small $10 tabletop tripod. The combination of monopod and tripod means that very little of the sphere is covered by the rig.
