I think most photographers have been waiting for a lens with such characteristics for a long time. Sony has raised the bar with the first-ever 12-24mm f/2.8 lens. I was initially a bit concerned about distortion and vignetting on such a wide-angle lens, but they're pretty minimal even at 12mm wide open. master line. Images are impressively sharp at f/2.8 wide open, and it's clear that sharpness increases slightly as the aperture decreases. The new Sony Nano AR II coating does a great job of removing ghosting and flare when shooting in low light. I was blown away by the clarity and contrast of my images when shooting against the sun. Astrophotography with this lens is a DREAM. The lens has very few downsides; The stars are sharp white dots from the center to the corners, which made me a very happy astro shooter. It's absolutely amazing to be able to use a 20 second shutter speed and not see any star trails. As a member of the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective, I've been fortunate to use almost every G-Master lens they've made and this has become one of my favorites. Overall it completes my Sony G Master trio from 12mm to 200mm and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a fast, wide zoom.
