I have an Apple iPhone and an Apple Watch. I wanted the Samsung Gear3 because of the features the Apple Watch didn't have. Basically a sleep tracker. I used to have a Gear S2. I just want to wear the Gear S3 but with it I can only get notifications for incoming calls and messages but not answer or reply. So I decided to go with the Apple Watch. Samsung has all the features you want in a smartwatch and some you didn't even know existed. Much more customizable than the Apple Watch. If you have an iPhone, the price of the Apple Watch is underwhelming. This can be a good watch for you. You'll get all the notifications you get from your Apple Watch, you just have to take out your phone to reply instead of speaking into your watch. It is no problem for me. It's nice to get SMS notifications when you're not holding your phone. You can then decide whether you want your phone to answer. One downside I have relates to Samsung's Bluetooth range. Sad compared to Apple. I can walk around my house and front/back yard with my Apple Watch connected. Samsung turns itself off by simply walking from one end of the house to the other. It's not a deal breaker, it automatically reconnects when you're back in range of your phone. only pain. If you have an Android phone, you will definitely love this watch.
