They are great for pressing quilt blocks and making bindings. Both fit perfectly on the ironing board creating a large surface area for ironing and one can be detached and taken to classes and retreats. There was a slight smell of wool when first used, but after a few uses it was completely gone. I don't use steam, but I use Best Press or Spray Strength with no ill effects on the coat. The iron must be set to the wool setting as the cotton/linen setting is too hot and will burn the fine fibers on the surface. Several of my sewing friends have bought them and are happy with them.
