Summary: We've previously tested a 120W 3-piece folding system using the same ProteusX 20A charge controller, so we'll compare these differences. Trademark, formerly ACOPower. 2) I was very impressed with the previously reviewed 120w portable system which I used to charge a parallel bank of Optima Blue Top batteries (12v x 110ah) driving a 1000w inverter. a 120W system could be charged in a reasonable time (provided the batteries have not been over discharged [best practice for lead-acid batteries: >50% residual capacity]). 3) All ACOPower/PowerECO modules listed in this review are monocrystalline, which is more efficient (and expensive) than poly. 4) The same ProteusX PWM charge controller is used for both systems. ACOPower also offers MPPT controllers. Hard case 100W nr. 100W is a setup with two 50W panels. Obviously 20W difference in panel power. The 120w system features a rear-attached soft case for storing cables and charge controllers, while the 100w system stores everything between hard-folded panels and includes a soft/soft case. The hard case is much faster and easier to use. The flexible 120W panels weigh a little less (still quite hefty) and can be hung using grommets. Recommendations: 1) For comparison, the ProteusX PWM controller costs $67. A pair of the PowerECO 100/110W panels listed below cost around $200. So this suitcase style 100w kit is pretty good value in terms of component cost (then you have to add all the connectors). 2) Plenty of solar/photovoltaic resources, take the time to really understand what you are trying to achieve and how you are going to achieve it. While solar can save money, there are costs/expenses up front so getting it wrong can be quite costly. 3) All charge controllers advise you to connect the battery first and then connect the panels. This kit comes with a panel connected to the controller which is not good because the panels without battery power the controller without current shunt which can damage the controller. So be sure to unplug one of the MC4 connectors when you receive it, and also unplug it each time you take the kit apart to store it. Only connect solar panels to a powered controller. Pros: Good fit and finish; complete set, just add batteries. Disadvantages: none. Verdict: $315, 5-star rating. ACOPower / PowerECO offers a wide range of products and many ready-to-install solutions.
