Review on SunSun HW-704B 525 GPH 5-Stage External Canister Filter with 9W UV Sterilizer: Superior Sun Filtration Solution by Lori Wybenga

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good filter, suitable for fish and aquatic animals

I like the filter very much. I have 525? Gallons per hour, I think it's a bit high so keep that in mind. holds a lot of media, seems well built. My flow may be due to the amount of carbon I added and it's very fine and not coarse. couldn't be happier for the price. Don't forget to fill the filter to make refilling easier as it hurts a little. not very good guide. Also note that this is a large filter that is hard to reach under my cabinet in the cabinet. it's tight but fits, using every inch of space. This thing contains a lot of media. and don't think that some 304/404 filter replacement filters are NOT SUITABLE. Just buy filters that you can cut and glue yourself, even polishing pads. Remember there is a side with a small magnet that needs to be aligned for the UV light to work. I completely cleaned and reassembled the filter but the UV didn't work. checked online and found out about the magnet. bam turned on the filter and was back in business. really a much better filter than I expected for the money but be aware the filter size needs to be bigger and the flow needs to be great for you. I have 525 gallons at 80 or so long, 6 feet long, 12 inches deep and 18 inches high. and 525 is not perfect overeating. but the long jet softens the force of the escaping water. Try it, you won't regret it. Get filter media bags to help with cleaning during maintenance. The bags keep the medium away from the impeller of the pump. I used ultra thin media, went through the system and got stuck in the atomizer. my fault is not theirs. You can put about 5 filter pads 1 in each compartment and trust me they will capture all the dirt. You can probably put 10lbs of carbon in it if you decide to lol. I also received a box of Marineland ceramic canister rings. this thing lasts 3 times longer. All in all a great filter without any complaints. Yes, it's plastic, so I know not to think it's a steel tank and be rude to it. plus the thought of having 80 gallons of water in my living room makes me fond. not that it's cheap, but let's say the plastic breaks. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply that I can keep the fish for 35 years.
