If you just want something cheap but strong enough to take a very brief fall from your knees or hands this will do. The hinged lid that replaces the kickstand can hold the iPad horizontally, almost unreliably when what you have can be easily knocked over and moved. However, it does the job. The same happens when you use the folded cover on your lap to support the iPad. The lid tends to push the device forward, causing the lid to fold under the device and out of the top edge of the screen. The magnet that keeps the lid closed is a bit weaker. Despite the flaws, it's a fine case that does its job by offering nothing more than light protection and standard viewing angles.
