After paying the dealer to clean and detail the exterior of my car, it looked like it had just been washed. It looked clean but the surface texture was still uneven from the sap so I tried washing and claying it before waxing it. The round jar contains a piece of clay bent to fit the container and wrapped in plastic. I opened up the plastic, leaving most of the wand inside in case it dries out, and following the directions, ripped off a piece of the wand - about a quarter to a third. It is important not to use everything. If dropped or otherwise soiled, it cannot be used as it will scratch the surface. It didn't take a lot of pressure, but it did take a couple of wipes to get the little black dots of sap and/or other contaminants off. Almost all have been removed. With any luck, growing with an Electric Buffer will remove any remaining random particles. I wore thin black nitrile gloves. Some of the clay melted on the gloves. It later appeared to me that the substance had seeped into the gloves, making my hands rough. I wouldn't use it without gloves, preferably a thicker pair or two. I think whether the product works or not depends on what you want to remove. Maybe the only way to be sure is to try. I think that probably helped, although I think I'll try a clean wax as it will take a while to smear my entire SUV with that little pad of product. My choice of treatment - this product followed by 100% carnauba wax (essential) and electric buffer - was approved by a former friend of mine who is a paint shop expert.
