I used this door on a project to let my cats in and out of the house without hitting my electric bill during a hot Vegas summer raise. They are very easy to get on and off. The door was sorted out pretty quickly. It locks well if you need to lock them inside. I originally ordered (and sent back) a small door. Cats can squeeze through gaps to poke their heads in, but I don't think my big boy would be too happy squeezing back and forth! This size is ideal for a decent cat. I don't recommend a smaller door unless it's for a ferret or something small. Definitely! I married mine into the sliding glass door in the kitchen with a matching piece of wood and Lowes sponge insulation. The whole thing cost me less than $60 and I didn't have to glue or seal anything. (In case any of you were looking for a sliding window solution) I noticed that only cat door mechanisms are made for horizontal windows and they are very expensive. You can make a custom door even more expensive ($400+). If you're not sure what size wood to get, measure your window vertically and take this cat door to Lowe's or Home Depot. Tell them what space you are trying to fill and they can cut a piece of wood to fill the gap.
