Great cat hatch for an interior wall - if you buy two Cat Mate Wall Panels

Looks like a solid cat hatch. I installed it in an interior wall - standard 1/2" drywall with 2x4" frames. I used two 2x4" boards in the wall on the sides to provide a support plate for the frame to screw on (you can see the uncovered screw holes in my picture of where I attached the frame boards). You will also need *2* Cat Mate Wall liner to close the gap in the wall. No cutting was required on the wall panels - two of them provided exactly 4" of coverage. The door itself is well built, has…

Perfect and well designed for my medium sized cat!

This door is perfect for my cat! After accidentally leaving my poor cat outside during a thunderstorm, I needed a way to get her onto our porch by herself. This door is for screens (that's how I use them) or thin doors (listed up to 1/2" but actually fits up to 3/4"). It took a little temptation with the treats to show her how to use them a few times and hold the door open until she was comfortable enough to use them, but after a week or so she started using them to use yourself. I like the…

Easy to install in the window screen; Kittens started using it right away

My kittens love the outdoors and I'm so glad I made this purchase. My friend and I were able to easily install it on our window screen and after some persuasion with treats, they were both using it regularly within an hour of installing it. We put an old scratching post in front of the window so they can reach it; they are in heaven. I had no reason to use locking mechanisms, so I cannot confirm their functionality. I'll add my two cents to installing the window grille: 1. Remove the grille…

Great little flap door.

We have two Bengal cats (neutered) who are off leash and both are traveling with us in our van. Their names are Tiger and Panther and they are mates in the womb and we got them when they were the size of a dropper. Our trailer is small and too full for both of us PLUS these two terrorists so I need this little popper door. I built a cage similar to a rabbit cage, about 6 feet by 2 inches by 2 inches. I made a hole that is directly across from the cat door and put the cat box in the cage. I put…

Best cat door for my 14 lb cat and her smaller harems

I used this door on a project to let my cats in and out of the house without hitting my electric bill during a hot Vegas summer raise. They are very easy to get on and off. The door was sorted out pretty quickly. It locks well if you need to lock them inside. I originally ordered (and sent back) a small door. Cats can squeeze through gaps to poke their heads in, but I don't think my big boy would be too happy squeezing back and forth! This size is ideal for a decent cat. I don't recommend a…

Surprising / Might be interesting.

We have 4 cats and we have decided they need to learn how to get in and out on their own. This door was easy to install after we were able to cut through the metal of the door. It's safe and looks good from the outside. The inside doesn't look that nice. It would be nice if the front and back widened towards each other to cover the gap (styrofoam, insulation) that is now visible when cutting the door. I have attached an image for reference. Looks good, but it would be nice if I didn't see the…

The pet door works great, maybe TOO great!

Spot the Cat is our indoor/outdoor cat and the owner of her estate. We recently went on a week long vacation and nobody could be around often enough to let our monster in and out. So we decided a cat door would be the perfect solution. As you can see from my photos we installed it in a kitchen window. And since it's on the windy west side of the house, we built the box in the back with an opening on the side. This design really helps reduce wind pressure that can cause drafts. Once stuck, we…

I'll check this out in case anyone is in this particular situation so I can save you some frustrating research and extra expense. Door. I never used the lock. I simply used a cat door so my cat could get in and out of my bedroom without leaving the door open. Then I got a kitten. Turns out he had ringworm. So I had to keep him separate from the house cat. The one way barrier didn't work. I had to keep him inside and her outside. My bedroom door sucks and the handyman who installed the cat door…
