Review on Cat Mate Locking Flap White by Mazie Laporte

Spot the Cat is our indoor/outdoor cat and the owner of her estate. We recently went on a week long vacation and nobody could be around often enough to let our monster in and out. So we decided a cat door would be the perfect solution. As you can see from my photos we installed it in a kitchen window. And since it's on the windy west side of the house, we built the box in the back with an opening on the side. This design really helps reduce wind pressure that can cause drafts. Once stuck, we absolutely wouldn't let Spot in any other door or into another, but easily undid the latch and persuaded him to come out. As he was about to head back to the front door we walked outside and gently persuaded him to rest his head against the hatch and he went in! Just a few days later he was able to get in and out of the car very easily on his own. As I mentioned earlier, if the door is on the windy side of the house, there can be some pressure on the sash, making it a little more difficult to enter the house. get out of the house but he mastered and that's fine. I think in our case going the extra mile and building a small box in front of the window with a side door helps a lot. This door can be configured to allow entry only, exit only, or swing in or out. when cleaning, which works very well to prevent the door from loosening in the wind, making it easy for the cat to slide and get in or out. Now for the cons. Since installing our Kitty Door, Spot the Cat, who appears to hunt for sport, has showered us with a variety of vermin, some alive, some dead, some in between. My husband and I have cornered and "neutralized" several mice, moles, and what appears to be a small rat in our home in the last 2 months alone. If anyone has an idea on how to stop the carnage, I'd love to hear it.
