Review on Enhanced BatteryMINDer 1510: Efficient 12V-1.5A Charger, Maintainer, Desulfator for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, ATV, Boats, and RVs by Omar Svagera

Suitable for charging a partially discharged battery, but not for charging a fully discharged one.

I bought the BatteryMINDer 1510 to charge/service car batteries during the pandemic. The 1510 is very small so I wasn't entirely sure it would do the job, but a family member assured me that they have used BatteryMINDer products to service their additional equipment for years and have never been disappointed. I used the product as intended and was not disappointed. Please note that the BatteryMINDer 1510 is an intelligent charger, which means that the device has the minimum potential required to charge the battery. It will NOT charge a battery with a potential less than 3V. The manual - and the product website - doesn't explain this caveat, save for a fairly brief mention that a flashing red light could indicate a polarity problem (i.e. the user has a negative terminal to positive or vice versa) or a battery with less than 3V residual potential The manufacturer seems to assume that customers are familiar with the concept of smart charging as it specifically refers to charging a 12V battery (z is not the same such as intelligent charging of electric vehicles). I'm not an electrical engineer and have never used a smart charger/desulfator before. The car that interested me the most had a completely dead battery; When I plugged in the device, it wouldn't charge and the "Polarity Reverse" light kept blinking. Some people recommend using a "dumb charger" to get the battery up to 3V, but I couldn't find a dumb charger and didn't have the components to make one. I ended up calling AAA to jump in the car, after which I plugged in BatteryMINDer for 48 hours. Battery charged with no problems. I plan to connect each car to BatteryMINDer a few times a week. (My garage setup won't let me connect multiple cars to the same device.)

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Unreliable
