Living in the south we have a lot of birds that want to be fed. The most common are the purple finch, goldfinch, cardinal, titmouse, sparrows, jay and titmouse with lesser numbers of cowbirds, red-winged thrush, thresher and tugboat. This mixture is always a hit with these birds, but white millet, which makes up most of the volume, is rarely eaten for some reason. I read that it is low in nutrients, but I'm sure the birds didn't read that :). We had an ice/snow storm last week which is unusual for us as the ice lasted for more than a week and as a result we had to feed more often. I placed food on the railing of our deck and they made sure to eat everything but the millet, even with the sub-teen temperatures we were experiencing. While I give this blend 4 stars for what it has to offer, the one component of the blend that just doesn't get eaten is the largest by volume and that is white millet.
