I have been using XQD cards since I bought D500 in 2016. I bought a new Nikon Z6 II and the new CFExpress card is 4 times faster! Wow. Same price as the old technique 5 years ago. With firmware updates, the D500 can use them too. You will need a new card reader if you are currently using XQD, older card readers will not recognize it. I bought a new reader that works with both XQD and CFExpress. Problem solved.
