You will need a heat gun to flatten the plastic stick.
As you see it in the box this is what it looks like when it is taken out of the box, you cannot straighten it, it remains so curved that it is difficult to clean to push through the packaging tube. I had to use a heat gun and heat the plastic stick to soften it enough to be straightened. It took a while, even then it wasn't that perfect. Allow enough time for this before you start cleaning the whistle.
