About every 1-2 old work boxes that I cut out of plaster of Paris and a lathe, I "burn through" one of these pieces. However, at about a dollar a shot, it's worth just throwing them away. Masonry style bits that last longer cost anywhere from $8-$15 per bit depending on the manufacturer, so I'd rather just use them as disposable bits rather than spend that much. Also, you can easily balance it with what you charge. Customers for work or what you save by not hiring someone to do the work.
