Want a good 1440p monitor? 2021 Edition So I researched for about 3 days and it was so overwhelming at first. I literally went insane and squinted at it seems like every monitor has bad reviews when I finally felt like I'd found one that went back to the drawing board. basically as dense as possible pixel by pixel). 4k is overkill for this size and will ruin your FPS in games. Please. After many comparisons I narrowed the list down to 5 monitors, 2 of which had to be removed. Here we go.1. Gigabyte M27Q - IPS panel. This panel was chosen for its amazing performance, ratings, contrast, response, etc. It tested every field and got 165 Hz for $300. One downside mentioned in all reviews is the BGR panel, which burns to the bone. Instead of standard RGB, no big deal right? Apparently this messes up the fonts and their appearance and all you have to do is swap the cleartypes with a setting. Well I did it, it helps but it's so damn bad it ruined the monitor. I don't know how these review sites can only say that it really isn't that bad, it's awful, even while playing you can see those weird old school blue and red 3D glasses on the side of the pixels. I don't understand why they did it and why rating companies don't mind. I wrapped it up within an hour of testing it, it made my eyes water, it was so bad. How can people live with that? 2. Gigabyte AORUS FI27Q-X – $699 This should have been a higher quality choice, ips again. Because it was a BGR and I saw the m27Q, I stayed very far away. So no, x is immediately off the list.3. Asus XG27AQ (this monitor) - $499 IPS panel, this monitor is spot on, smooth, fast, great colors out of the box, decent price, good stand, RGB backlight, low IPS glow, good contrast ratio, bezel around the monitor Well, it's flat, 27 inches, 1440p 170Hz refresh rate. Quality control is good, menu is good, simple and convenient. I'm happy with it, it also outperforms all my previous gaming monitors I've tested and is top rated in terms of reviews and I can see why. This thing nails, games are crisp, responsive, no ghosting, blurring or trailing, colors appear and hit the target even from different angles. That's why I kept this monitor.4. MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD – IPS 165HZ at a price of $449 this monitor gets great reviews, has significantly better specs and much better contrast than the XG27AQ (which by the way is currently the best 2k monitor Asus currently offers) . The only thing I see in it is that there are mistakes and mistakes in the reviews about bad panels, with the Asus group they simply do not have this problem, and the color from the box is not the best either, but it can better made than the XG27AQ, it can also display higher quality HDR content and overall is arguably the best monitor on the list of all 2k IPS panels. Check the reviews on Amazon, it's definitely highly rated, but msi is only known for some quality issues, and the gray uniformity on rtings shows it better, so I'd say the panel quality is lower (mud) but it really wins in performance. 5. Samsung G7, it's a 240Hz VA panel, costs $699 so is the top budget price and it clearly smokes. The only downside is the crooked and curvy thing. And the angles aren't that great (maybe because it's curved). Some claim there are dark windbreakers in the corners, but all corners can be weird. Either way, this is a panel worth considering, especially if you have the budget and the ability to push new games at 240 fps, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 or lower quality settings. Either way, the g7 is definitely poised for a powerful graphics card, the RTX 4090ti might get one in the future. These are the top three monitors I recommend. Asus XG27AQ - great panel, price, performance, colors, quality control, less hassle, just buy and be happy. Maybe not, it has better specs and contrast and such compared to Asus. Samsung G7 - Darkness is great, Contrast is superior to these two, Curved if you like it, there's a 32-inch model too. These are kings at the moment, until for some reason Oled steps in and starts producing 27-32 inch high refresh rate OLED panels. If you want a good monitor for $299, I would go with the Gigabyte G27Q, which is a 144Hz RGB panel. not as good as the m27q but the m27q is useless as i said due to text legibility issues in the picture which blinds you. Cons of this monitor: There are two of them. A this qc monitor may vary. Also known as dirty records. Yellowing of some panels on the white screen is possible. You'll see a variation or yellow spot that's barely noticeable, but it's there. You will only notice white on a white screen. You may have to return once or twice to get a good one. I bought 4 and got 1 really good one. 2 worthy. 1 doesn't seem that cool.2. For some, this is difficult to see. When you scroll on a white page with black text and the screen color is warm or Windows has night light mode enabled, the words appear to follow or reflect red. I've never seen this before. Disabling night mode will make it go away. It could be a window issue or a warm color. That's it guys! I hope this review helped, I've tried to keep it as simple as possible and don't want you to have to deal with so many reviews just to get to this point. Be sure to check out the rtings website and forget what they offer. Just use their table tool and play around with it to see what's at the top. You can even narrow it down to resolution and such. Until then, this monitor gets all 5 stars from me, actually maybe it's more like all 4.5 stars, but since there really isn't another monitor that blows it away, maybe Samsung's Flat Panel G7 or Oled Panel is coming soon anyway, I'm in it myself am glad i got this monitor otherwise i would return it and it has outperformed all my old gaming panels (also 144hz) aoc, benq monitors. Stay away from tn panels too, it's crap and they don't even take up space in games anymore, ips has taken its place, va is still questionable and there aren't many panels yet, but they might do better soon.
