Review on 🏹 Hunter CFL Bowl Fitter Model 99023 by Yung Kaelin

Still not a bad product.

After only about a year, our new Hunter fan decided one day to burn out both 60 watt lightbulbs at the same time! We changed the bulbs to no avail and thought the lighting kit had somehow gone bad. I couldn't believe how expensive these kits were, but I was lucky enough to find one in stock from Revain for $17. We were happy to see that it used "regular" lightbulbs (with a large standard base) instead of those tiny candelabra bulbs that our old one used. The downside was that we had to wait here for the part to be delivered, which meant no power for several days. My husband had a bit of trouble installing it as it seemed the rod on our bowl wasn't long enough to catch the part that screws onto the bottom and we actually had to use a piece of the old one to fix the install floor. We finally got it installed and flipped the switch. Nothing. So we did a Google search and then felt like kicking ourselves in the butt for not doing it sooner! We have found that since the government passed the Energy Policy Act 2005 all ceiling fans must be manufacturer's, which limits lamp power to 190 watts. We've found that many manufacturers build a power limiter into the case that breaks the circuit if you exceed the power limit. Unfortunately, they're notorious for failing without exceeding 190 watts (which we didn't). Removing this limiter and reconnecting the wires allows current to flow again. (I've been trying to figure out where I can buy a new limiter but they don't seem to be sold separately?) So five minutes later we put two 60 watt bulbs back in and voila! The real solution costs absolutely nothing! We decided to go ahead and keep the new lighting set so regular bulbs could be used, but we wish we knew what the real problem was!
