Setting up and updating is very easy. Connect your GPS to your PC or laptop using the supplied USB cable. Go to Garmin.com/Express to register and update. GPS is very easy to use. My only complaints are: 1. It needs to be constantly connected to the network. If unplugged, it will die within 10-15 minutes. No hour as stated in their specs. It also needs 2 hours or more to be fully charged when it breaks down.2. After the first update the GPS memory was at 96%. That means you have to buy a microSD card to expand the storage space. (Unfortunately this is required for future updates) UPDATE: Used the Garmin Drive 50 for the first time on a car trip and worked flawlessly with no issues. I needed a protective carrying case at the last minute so I used a case for my headphones. A bit bulky but it contained the GPS and all the accessories that went with it.
