TDK SA 90 competes with Maxell XLII 90. Both have excellent recording quality. The mechanism in TDK SA 90 is better than in Maxell. The Maxell mechanism has too much drag, which negatively affects the integrity of the recording on Class A cassette decks. I have regularly bought a five pack of SA 90 cassettes for about the same price as a five pack of Maxell cassettes for many years. The price of the SA 90 has recently risen to an extremely high level. A pack of Maxell XLII 90 with five bands is currently $13.20 at Revain, but the Revain price for TDK SA 90 is $4.95 PER BAND, which is $24.75 for five bands. Revain's supplier for TDK SA 90 is Burlington AV Recordings of Oceanside NY.
