Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ JAYO PLA 3D Printing Filament by Chris Munns

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good for the price: 3D printing filament

So I bought a roll of PLA+ (white) because it was $17 and had a diameter tolerance of +/- 0.02mm which put it in a row with middle class brings branded goods. Why not, right? So far it's not that bad. But not in the way I expected. First, the advertised WAAA extrusion temperature is off. It says 210-235C so I started with 215 because that's how my other PLA+ coils on my machine like it. I had drips, oozing, tension from hell etc. So I got back to 200. Tension still there but much better. I'm typing at 195 right now and so far it's looking GREAT. I'm wondering what is so special about my coil that the temperature has dropped well beyond the specified range. Secondly, the stated bed temperature is nonsense. 70 ยฐC for PLA+? Well, that's what it said on the box, so I gave it a try. I have excellent adhesion to my glass bed, but these prints will absolutely not come off after cooling without frustrating violence. I'll try to tweak this a bit and see what happens. Finally, and what you probably REALLY want to know, is print quality and durability. To be honest it's not that bad. I would compare it to my eSun PLA+. Lots of extra hardness, but unfortunately it's very brittle in places where it matters (like arms and legs in miniatures). I prefer PLA+ with a bit more elasticity, but I think this material works well for less delicate items. In general, the experiment was a success. The price was great and while this stuff will never be my favorite, I have a feeling I'll use a roll - it doesn't deserve to go in the bin or anything.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
