Review on 🏠 Effortless Home Automation: Introducing the SHELLY 1 One Relay Switch with Wireless WiFi Connectivity and iOS/Android Application (1 Pack) by Stanley Molden

Much better than Sonoff in many ways.

This is my second batch, I will order the third. I will not order Sonoff again. Pros: 1) Very, very small size - fits easily into almost any switch junction box. 2) Relay 16A (compared to 10A for Sonoff). 3) The relay is disconnected from the power supply. Input so it can be used to switch low voltage (e.g. garage doors, thermostats, pool controls) while still being powered by almost anything. Sonoff requires you to use a Dremmel tool to cut traces on the board to isolate the relay. 4) Has an open socket for flashing your own firmware like Tasmota which fully supports Shelly in the latest versions. Sonoff actively discourages it, and the company has begun filling in the necessary holes with solder to try and get everyone to use Sonoff's software. Just the time I spend soldering and adding a connector makes this product worth using. install a jumper. 6) Screw terminals are suitable for larger wires than Sonoff. 7) There is a special screw terminal for an external switch - it's easy to convert all your stupid switches into smart ones. 8) The firmware that comes with it is very good and doesn't call home if you don't want it to. For most uses, you might not even need to flash Tasmota. The only application where Sonoff could be better is: extension cord connector and sensor connector. Passing the floor usually means changing the Sonoff case (responsibility in your house). Regarding sensors, the Shelly 1 GPIO connectors are tied to the power input, so they're not well suited for this use.
