Much better than Sonoff in many ways.

This is my second batch, I will order the third. I will not order Sonoff again. Pros: 1) Very, very small size - fits easily into almost any switch junction box. 2) Relay 16A (compared to 10A for Sonoff). 3) The relay is disconnected from the power supply. Input so it can be used to switch low voltage (e.g. garage doors, thermostats, pool controls) while still being powered by almost anything. Sonoff requires you to use a Dremmel tool to cut traces on the board to isolate the relay. 4) Has an…

Good for low voltage and dry contact applications

I almost returned my Shelly 1 units as defective. They're certainly "interesting" to set up, but I'm now convinced that Shelly devices can meet my needs. I just wish Shelly had better documentation or a real WIKI. Attempting to provide support on Facebook without good search tools means up-to-date information is very difficult to find. Here's why the Shelly 1 can be worth the extra cost for certain applications: 1. Tiny size. I was able to plug it into an outlet in my 1955 home, when the boxes weren't as big as new builds are today. It even works in a metal box.2. Switch activation uses hot AC power. This is ideal for using your existing wall switch and wiring for

Good hardware, terrible software

The hardware is easy to set up and fairly compact. The features are just what I need; Power input 120V, relay controlling switch without power and Wi-Fi connection. The product doesn't work, starting with a lousy app. The device setup instructions in the app were incomplete and incorrect. Adding a device took quite a while and wasn't intuitive since the process isn't like all the other apps we're used to. After installing the app, I was happy to add it to Google Home. From here it gets worse…
