I didn't have high expectations for this 1/2 inch thick sheet of foam that I bought at an art store, but surprisingly it cuts very cleanly. Inserting the blade is a bit tricky (I threw away the instructions, of course) but was intuitive enough to understand. This allows you to attach the blade on either side, which is nice. There are 5-6 blades but I used one blade to make about 10 96 inch cuts so I would say the blades are decent. I followed the instructions and used a piece of foam board under the board I am cutting, adjusted the depth of cut to be slightly deeper/lower than the thickness of the board, used the FoamWerks metal channel to cut them very clean and straight. I discovered that it works best if you do a first pass to make a thin cut into the surface and then do a second pass with full pressure (all the way down) to then cut through the board fairly easily , then a third pass to make sure the cut went through the paper on the other/bottom of the board. In this case, the cardboard has been cut completely and cleanly from one side of the paper to the other. I've also found that I can cut a 1/4 inch strip of foam board, but then making the first cut in the surface is very important. Overall, this is a great, reasonably priced tool for cutting foam board, especially when used with a channel that allows for a straight cut. Highly recommended!
