For good results you need to use decent antennas.
After trial and error with multiple antennas everything works great. I have tried several inexpensive indoor and outdoor antennas. After finally figuring out that I needed an outdoor yagi antenna and an indoor ceiling mount antenna, I went from NO SERVICE to 3 LTE bars in our school's basement. I just installed the yagi antenna in the window (not attached to anything) and it was an instant success.
