Efficient entry into the world of gears

It is not uncommon for involute gear cutters to sell for $80 or more per cutter, so this set costs $640 . plus a gazebo. At the hobby level, many people choose Chinese cutting plotters from eBay and they are notorious for their problems. The cutters are numbered in reverse order to the B&S standard. People get two of these and none of these, like two #7s and no #2s. Well, my set is checked. The incisors are numbered correctly. There are no obvious defects. Everything works as a single system. The only deviation from the standards I found on Youtube was that none of these cutters were marked "Full Depth". I had to go through 3,000 pages of rice paper in the Machinery's Handbook to figure out the right depth for them, which is either .135" or .140". I don't know which is correct, but whatever I'm trying to put into my imported tabletop mill, any number will probably be close enough. Overall I think it is what it is. You'll probably get better things. If you want good stuff, the 8-piece set is $776. If you were that serious about gears, you probably wouldn't try cutting gears at home. Just think. You help a guy who works 96 hours a week earn $3 so he can better feed his kids.
