I just bought a Nikon D5100 to use with a Tamron 18-250mm lens. To my surprise, the lens doesn't focus when you switch the camera to Live View. I tried the Nikon lens that came with the camera and another Nikon lens, both with Live View autofocus. I called Tamron tech support and confirmed that the lens does not autofocus in Live View, but if I send them the lens they can set it up to work in Live View. I don't normally use Live View very often, so it's not a big deal, but with the D5100's vari-angle LCD screen, you'll need Live View to take advantage of this great feature. In addition, the lens is very good, takes good pictures and is light compared to other zoom lenses.
